Rubaga Community School, Kampala
Letters, crafts, etc. from the Rubaga School
Rubaga Friends encourages the development of friendly, personal connections between Tucson and Rubaga alongside with the general support program activities.
Cooperation between the Rubaga Community School in Kampala and the AmeriSchools Academy in Tucson is key to achieving this part of our program.
Exchange of letters, crafts, educational materials and other activities engage children at both schools. The students get hand-on knowledge of another part of the world with a different culture. The partner-school project also clearly brings for a day how place of birth may result in huge differences with regard to general living conditions and future outlook for the individual.
In 2011, the school has received funds from a Pima Rotary Club program to buy computers, etc. to enable efficient computer use education; see Support Program in the main menu. The computers are equipped with web-cams, which opens up for new ways of communication between children and teachers at the two partner schools.
