In the outdoor kitchen located in the narrow alley behind the school building meals were traditioanally prepared over big charcoal
burners. An outdoor  wood burning stove was recently installed. It is  efficient and firewood is  less costly than charcoal. ICWS donated the stove.

FOOD AT THE SCHOOL
Every day, lunch is prepared for 300 hungry children and about 20 adults. In addition, morning and evening meals are provided for the  children living at the school. The kitchen staff copes with this challenge under very difficult conditions. Provision of food is a heavy economic burden.
Higher protein content in the meals is the main goal of the food program. Beans, nuts, milk, beef and chicken are popular supplements to  carbohydrates such as yams, bananas, squash, eggplant and corn meal.
Green cooking bananas are a substantial part of the food supply.
